Pickett wanted to play in Richmond’s round 14 match against the Saints on Saturday night and his teammates were keen for him to run out alongside them for premiership captain Trent Cotchin’s 300th game, but Gale said the decision to keep him out for one match was made “in his best interests and [for] his welfare”.“We think it is important for Marlion to be with his family, but having said that he will prepare with the team. He’ll train, and then he will be engaging and turning up to work.
