When Piker asked the city council member about whether she believed Israel had the right to exist, she said she did, but added that Israel is an “apartheid” state — another lie that ignores the basic fact that Arabs and Jews have equal rights in Israel .
Raman’s views are out of step with the majority of Angelenos. And LA does not need more of this hatred and division. It’s not clear what Gaza has to do with LA, but the far left has been dragging the Middle East into just about everything lately. It is worth reminding Raman that LA is home to a large community of Jews, including Israelis.
Many love and admire the State of Israel, as do many other patriotic Americans, who feel a sense of kinship with a fellow democracy, and a connection to the land in which the Bible unfolded. Many Jews have felt threatened in LA in recent years, especially since the Hamas terror attack of Oct. 7, 2023.at the time: “Our district is home to beautiful Israeli and Jewish-American communities, and so many who have family in Israel.
I cannot imagine the terror they are experiencing. ”Many of the attacks have been motivated by irrational outrage against Israel — often based on the same lies invoked by Piker and Raman. The horrific attack on a mosque in San Diego this week by apparent neo-Nazi wannabes is a reminder that violent hatred is a threat to people of all faiths.
