Parker is running for a state Senate seat, opening up District 63 to fresh leadership from the Republican Party in this largely conservative district. We recommended former Trophy Club Mayor Nick Sanders for his substantial government experience and practical approach to problems. He didn’t advance to the runoff, leaving voters with no good choices. That is why we cannot recommend a candidate in this race.
Of the two, Bumgarner is the only one with government experience, joining the Flower Mound City Council in 2019. However, he embraces half-baked or fringe policy ideas such as eliminating property taxes altogether. Bumgarner also calls for anyone who commits voter fraud “in a nefarious manner” or steals an election to be charged as a domestic terrorist.
