We took to the streets of Belfast city centre on Wednesday to gauge the public's opinion on proposed new laws to curb youth smoking and restrict vapes.

NI Health Minister, Robin Swann, said: "Smoking kills – it’s that simple. In Northern Ireland it kills more than 2,000 people each year and treating tobacco related conditions costs our hospitals over £200 million annually. One woman said: "I feel like vapes are a bit more dangerous than tobacco because of the flavour that they have and how easy it is for everyone to just smoke them away.

He said: "If people want it, they'll find a way to get it, no law is going to change it. It's just gonna make it maybe a little bit harder. Another woman explained: "Cigarettes are slowly killing people. I've had an auntie that passed away when she was 38 because she smoked every day of her life.
