'We are on a highway to climate hell' - António Guterres
United Nations chief António Guterres warned the world was heading towards climate hell if urgent action wasn’t taken to reverse the impact of greenhouse emissions on the world’s climate.
He was speaking at the United Nations climate change conference under way in Egypt’s resort town of Sharm el-Sheik. His warning comes after a UN report showed that current global emissions would increase by 10.6% by 2030 instead of the previously estimated 13.7%.
