Pablo Policicchio, who is the spokesman for the Security Ministry of Buenos Aires, told The Associated Press Payne "had thrown himself from the balcony of his room." "I am in shock right now," Charlie Puth wrote in an Instagram story. "Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I can not believe he's gone. I am so upset right now. May he rest in peace."
One Direction exploded onto the music scene in 2010, with Payne and Horan teaming with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, to create what is known as one of the most successful boy bands of all time. Cowell responded to Payne's passing by cancelling filming for Britain’s Got Talent, which is currently shooting taped auditions.
