Davone Anderson arriving for court May 4, 2022.The trial against Davone Anderson, a man accused of killing his two girlfriends weeks apart in 2020, is going to come down to whether or not the jury believes they were killings done in the heat of the moment—or whether they were planned.
The prosecution, led by Cumberland County DA Sean McCormack, pushed for the more serious charge, saying the killings were planned.The defense’s argument hinges on the tension she described in the “love triangle,” previously described as a polyamorous relationship by a witness, that resulted in arguments leading to the two women’s deaths.Parmelee and Lyons did not get along, Eakin said. She said both women were pregnant with Anderson’s children at the same time years ago.
When Parmelee followed Anderson to Lyons’ house on July 5, the house was unclean, had no air conditioning and had men’s clothing inside it—indicating Anderson had already moved in when he tried to leave Parmelee. It wouldn’t make sense that any of Parmelee’s actions would trigger a killing, McCormack explained.
There is no explanation to where the guns came from for the murder, Eakin said, elaborating that there could have been a struggle during one or both of the killings. Lyons and Anderson, weeks later, had an argument around 20 hours before Lyons was found dead in the same room of the same apartment on the same couch, in near-the same manner: Gunshot wound to the head; according to McCormack.But there was no evidence there was an argument taking place July 30, the night Lyons died, according to McCormack.
