School districts across the nation are cutting after school programs in a desperate attempt to cut costs at a time when our youth need them most.

When there isn’t enough education funding, the first thing most districts eliminate is non-essential education spending, namely enrichment programs like art, music and sports. The financial situation for the Los Angeles Unified School District is so dire that even a tax that brings in roughly $300 million to $500 million a year can’t stop the district from dipping into its reserve fund. According to the LA Daily News,
