. The Woodside chairman wakes early, sips his double mac, pores over the iPad version of this publication and then girds himself. Once more into the breach.that he’ll be re-elected as Woodside chairman at the company’s AGM on Wednesday. The company’s climate plan has a harder road ahead of it.
Then there were the proxies. Thousands of words have already been written about the diverging, often bamboozling advice from the three majors in CGI Glass Lewis, ISS and Ownership Matters. But it’s worth pausing on Glass Lewis. The US-based firm produced its proxy paper on April 3, tipping clients to vote against re-electing Goyder and Woodside’s climate report. It meditated on ACCR’s members statement, before effectively affirming the green group’s arguments on both.
Whether Glass Lewis was convinced by ACCR’s arguments in any way because of commercial concerns is moot. Proxies’ clients range from large institutional investors to the ASX-listed companies themselves. It’ll take money from all sides. Even Woodside.
