WAYNE COUNTY, Ohio - A first responder was struck by a car and died while helping a man whose truck got stuck in a ditch Friday night. According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol , at around 10:39 p.
m. on Stratton Road south of Jefferson Road in Congress Township, troopers received a report of a Ford F-150 that was stuck in a ditch while exiting a private field on the west side of Stratton Road. Lieutenant Paul Charles Mickolick with the Town and County Fire District arrived at the scene in his personal vehicle to help and parked on the west side of the roadway near the truck, according to the release.A man driving a 2006 Cadillac CTS was traveling soundbound on Stratton Road and went off the right side of the road into the ditch and struck the truck, the truck’s driver and Lt. Mickolick, who were standing near the truck. The truck’s driver and Lt. Mickolick were transported to the Cleveland Clinic Lodi Hospital by Town and County Fire and EMS.Lt. Mickolick died as a result of his injuries, according to the release. Lt.
