Wayne and Wanda: My girlfriend wants us to exchange shared locations. Is this weird or am I out of touch?I’ve been seeing “Gina” for several months now. It’s the first serious relationship for both of us in a while, so we’ve been taking it slow and we aren’t in any rush.
So here we are, and Gina has asked me if we can share each other’s locations on our phones. This was a foreign concept to me — I had to Google it. She’s asking to be able to see on a map where I am at all times, and vice versa. Why does she need a tracking device unless she doesn’t trust me? She says she trusts me completely, and I don’t know if I believe her. After I shared that I’d cheated before, she gave off some weird vibes.
Beyond that, it is just another way to keep tabs on someone. And if you and Gina aren’t living together, and are indeed taking it slow, this seems like a step to consider in the future, or on a case-specific basis, but hardly a feature you need to activate to support your current status. Gina might be suspicious of your motives for denying her request, but it’s not a reasonable ask given the early days of your relationship.Well, yes, you are a little out of touch, but that’s a technology issue.
