A judge set bail at $350,000 for a Waukegan man facing reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving charges in a March 2022 crash.
A Waukegan man was taken into custody this week on a reckless homicide charge in connection to a fiery March 2022 auto collision in which a Libertyville woman was killed.
Miguel A. Landa, 20, appeared in bond court Tuesday, where a judge set bail at $350,000 on the reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving charges.Landa is charged in the March 1, 2022, crash on Illinois Route 120 in Waukegan in which Ashley Kroc, 24, of Libertyville, died.Police said he was eastbound at a high rate of speed on Route 120 at about 2:45 p.m. when he struck Kroc’s car.
Her car was flipped onto its roof and caught fire. Kroc was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lake County coroner’s office. Kroc was a graduate of Libertyville High School and Loyola University who was working as an events coordinator, according to an obituary. In addition to the driving charges, Landa is also charged with driving more than 35 miles per hour over the speed limit and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He is due back in court Monday for a bond review, according to court records.
