Watford fans will again have the opportunity to raise their scarves in tribute to the club’s greatest ever manager when the Hornets face Blackpool in their next home game.
The club have confirmed they will mark the sixth anniversary of Graham Taylor’s death with the now traditional ‘Graham Taylor Matchday’ against the Seasiders on Saturday, January 14. The man who led Watford from the Fourth Division to runners-up spot in the First Division, into Europe and to their first FA Cup Final in what is widely recognised as the club’s golden era passed away on January 12, 2017.
The Championship fixture against Michael Appleton’s side is the closest Vicarage Road matchday to the anniversary to the death of a manager who returned to Watford to guide the club to back-to-back promotions and into the Premier League for the first time, leaving a remarkable legacy on both the club and in the wider community.
Supporters have raised a scarf in Taylor’s memory as the players enter the pitch before kick-off and they will again have the opportunity to pay this tribute against Blackpool.
