Water surge tragedy search op finds bag, ‘Fatin’ name tag

Authorities are yet to locate Putri Nur Fatin Karim, 14, the last remaining victim of the Jeram Air Putih water surge tragedy. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, July 11, 2023.

Kemaman police chief Hanyan Ramlan said firemen found the black bag as they were searching for the last victim, on the sandbank 2km from the scene at about noon. He said the bag also contained RM1,279 in cash, a marriage certificate card, a watch, a mobile phone, a necklace and a school name tag with “FATIN” on it.On July 2, 10 individuals reportedly went missing after being swept away by the water, during a picnic at Jeram Air Putih on the evening before.
