One of New Orleans’ biggest musical exports of the last few years, The Revivalists, have released a new live video for their song “Oh No.” It was recorded live in Muscle Shoals, Ala., in the legendary Fame Studios, where artists like the Rolling Stones andThe “Oh No ” video is a great taste of The Revivalists’ beloved live show: high intensity, with lots of searing guitar solos, bluesy breakdowns and growling one-liners from frontman David Shaw..
“I had this melody in my head all day that had manifested itself into a full-blown earworm by the evening and it had to go,” Shaw told. “It took a little while to get it just right and then I began to scat lyrics and melodies over it. I channeled pieces of my life ranging from failing relationships, to drug addiction and family drama. Oftentimes, I take something that actually happened and change the characters around.
The video shows band members spread throughout the booth and totally rocking out. This new version of “Oh No” is a precursor to a whole entire re-imagining of“The place has generated so much classic music out of that little room in that small town,” said guitarist Zack Feinberg. “It’s a legendary space but it has a very humble, disarming vibe to it. It smells and looks a bit like your grandparents’ basement.
