"South Africa will be part of this pageant for the first time ever under the Miss South Africa umbrella. I feel like I'm being given the privilege of holding the pen that will write the history for South African women in this competition," she said.
Ahead of the grand finale later this month, the 58 candidates have been paired up with a roommate for the duration of the competition - and Thato's roomie is Miss Supranational USA, Shivali Patel.
