“When this sinkhole started it was just the size of a tennis ball. The municipality was notified. Our neighbours left their houses because of it,” Makgale told City Press this week.
Many Khutsong residents share Makgale’s sentiments. While many don’t mind being relocated, they just want houses that are at least the same size as their current homes. Motsepe said they have to wait for the sewage water to drain before they leave their home. “I fear for my child’s health, inhaling all these horrible smells can’t be healthy.”They also live in a house near the massive hole that has already forced five families to leave the area.
