In an emotional recorded audio, which was played to close family attending the funeral, Connie said she felt like she was in a dream. “I remember when we saw old people at Cresta holding hands; we would look at them and go ‘look at us in a couple of years’ and then we would hold hands if we were not holding hands already,” Connie said.
The media pioneer, who co-founded Ferguson Films along with Connie, was diagnosed with Covid-19 on June 26. “My brother, being the fighter that he was, got better, or seemed to be getting better, which resulted in his discharge from Arwyp Hospital on July 10. That evening he took a turn for the worse again and he was readmitted at Pinehaven on July 11, where his condition started deteriorating,” she said.Pilane said she received a call from Connie on July 12 when she was in Botswana at the funeral of their brother who also succumbed to Covid-19.
