At right is Jacqueline Madogo of Canada who finished fifth.On Saturday, the Dallas native finished her 100m semifinal heat in 10.89 seconds to advance to today’s final at 2:20 p.m. It will air on NBC and Peacock. She was second only to former Texas Longhorn Julien Alfred, who finished in 10.84 seconds.
She opened her Olympic career up with a preliminary heat win on Friday morning in 10.94 seconds, which was fourth fastest on the dayIf she takes home the gold, it would mark one of the more successful 12-month periods in U.S. track and field. In August 2023, Richardson shocked the world by winning the 100m at the world championships out of lane eight and taking down sprint titans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica and Marie Josée Ta Lou-Smith of the Ivory Coast in the process.
