San Francisco Giants star outfielder Joc Pederson found a sure-fire way to get on base.

San Francisco Giants star outfielder Joc Pederson found a sure-fire way to get on base: hit the ball so hard it rips right through the fielder’s glove. That’s exactly what he did in the third inning of the Giants’ game against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday.

White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn thought he caught the hard line drive only to watch it exit his glove and bounce behind him. The exit velocity off of Pederson’s bat was 109 mph, according to announcers. The play, originally called a hit, was later ruled an error by the White Sox.Apparently this is no fluke. Last season, Pederson had the second highest exit velocity among all lefties in Major League Baseball at 93.2 mph.
