Here’s the show’s updated version of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” a goofy mid-century lark that’s always been a little bit creepier than it should be, but is also probably less creepy than people make it out to be today. It’s supposed to be sweet and innocent in the singer’s inability to realize that the dude mom’s smooching is just dad in a beard, and not the actual Santa Claus, who, of course,and doesn’t have time to make it with every mom in the world in a single night.
Still, it’s just a dumb, goofy, innocent song, and not anything to get all weird and flipped out about.predictably turns the song into a blatant sex thing in this video, in a fashion that’s a little tired and a little obvious but still, thanks to the increasing complexity of the situation, a little bit funnier than you’ll probably expect. And it does at least call out the kid for being a voyeur, and tries not to pass too hard a judgment on the peculiar proclivities of these parents.
