PJ Thompson is a Runner’s World+ member and a leader in Austin, Texas' thriving running community.
ByWhile quarantining with family in Austin, Texas, Runner's World Coach Jess Movold happened to be a few miles from Runner’s World+ member and cover star, PJ Thompson. So, she decided to go for a run with him and deliver one of the first copies of the issue.
Thompson fell in love with running after finishing a relay leg of the 2008 Dallas Marathon. In 2019 he founded the Austin run crew, where he frequently hosts “run-raisers” to support local charities like the Central Texas Food Bank. “Running has changed my life through the other participants who I encouraged up hills only to later have them give me a pat on the back toward the final turn of the same race,” he says.
