A guard fainted while he stood vigil at Queen Elizabeth II's coffin Wednesday.
It was the queen's first day of lying in state at Westminster Hall, Parliament's house of government. Her coffin had just been through a procession from London's Buckingham Palace and will remain at Westminster Hall until her funeral in Westminster Abbey on Monday.
The guard was among the several assigned to guard the coffin set on a stage called a catafalque in the Sovereign’s Bodyguard, the Household Division, and Yeoman Warders of the Tower of London. He briefly swayed and stumbled off the catafalque in one moment captured on video before assuming position again. A few seconds later, he fainted, falling forward and knocking his cap off. One of the Queen's guards has dramatically fainted in Westminster Hall, where Her Majesty is lying in state.
