The 39-year-old singer - who has two children, seven-year-old Willow and two-year-old Jameson, with her husband Carey Hart - released her new album Hurts 2B Human on Friday, which included a song in which she says she’s “hated” her body since she was 17.
She said: “The reason I said [that] is because I've always had this very tomboy, very strong gymnast body, but actually at 17 I had a miscarriage. And I was going to have that child. But when that happens to a woman or a young girl, you feel like your body hates you and like your body is broken, and it's not doing what it's supposed to do.
The So What hitmaker says she now tries to “find the funny” in all situations, which helps her to go to “such uncomfortable places” when writing her music.
