“I could have maintained a fake persona for a couple of weeks, but I decided that I wanted to show up as my broken, hurting, real self, take it or leave it. That’s when I realised that people always say keep it real, authentic, but no one is really ready for that.” Nqolase told L-Tido that she didn’t feel like she was fully compensated for her contribution to making the show successful.
She claimed that there was “no formal payment” from the streaming giant, instead the cast was given “pocket money” which they used to buy food and other things.
