Watch out for Healthcare Scams! How to avoid becoming a victim
Broadview Heights, Ohio - On Friday, Ericka Dilworth with the Better Business Bureau in Broadview Heights showed 19 News how easy it is to report a scam.“Scammers know that this time of the year people are thinking about Medicare ” said Dilworth.“If a scammer gets your Medicare number they can sell it, they can a get claim on you” said DilworthHow might they trick you? Through a phone call.
Here are some red flags to look out for: If someone offers gifts in exchange for personal information like your social security number “If they are asking for any personal information. They may ask it like, ‘can you confirm’ ‘can you tell’.” said Dilworth.“Medicare.gov, and Healthcare.gov.” said Dilworth. “Those are the only 2 government specializing websites you should provide your information to.”
If you are suspicious make a report to the BBB.
