WATCH | Never-before-seen clip shows how One Direction was formed
Celebrating the beloved boy band's 12th anniversary Fremantle Media released the never-before-seen video in which Scherzinger suggests they create"an imaginary boy group instead of just saying, 'no.'"
The group starts with a photo of Niall Horan, followed by a photo of Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. Then it comes to Liam's photo."He was the standout audition," Cowell says before pointing over at the group of boys selected to move forward as individual acts."You don't think he should be over there?"
"I don't think so," Scherzinger replies."If he's the standout, then he could actually maybe be the leader." Cowell responds:"He thinks he's better than anyone else on that list."After marvelling at the four members, the judges complete their perfect boy band with the addition of Zayn Malik.Malik was the first to leave One Direction in March 2015.
