Former Liberal staffer Bruce Lehrmann’s bid to challenge the judgment of his failed defamation case against Network 10 and veteran journalist Lisa Wilkinson is resuming in Sydney’s Federal Court.

The matter will return before Justice Wendy Abraham for an interlocutory hearing on Monday morning where the court will consider whether Mr Lehrmann can proceed with his appeal without forking out $200,000 to Network 10. Mr Lehrmann sued Network 10 and Ms Wilkinson over a 2021 interview on The Project with Brittany Higgins who aired the allegation she was raped in Parliament House in 2019.
In making that finding, Justice Lee upheld Network 10’s truth defence but dismissed its defence of qualified privilege.
