Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, where he is expected to be pressed on border security.
The hearing begins at 10 a.m. from Capitol Hill, with House Republicans saying they will use the hearing to"examine the agency's operational failures, the unprecedented border crisis, and the abandonment of immigration enforcement under Secretary Mayorkas.
"This will be Mayorkas's first time testifying before the House Judiciary Committee since the pandemic-era rapid expulsion policy, Title 42, expired. Republican members of Congress are expected to critique Mayorkas's job performance. Impeachment and other punishments have been discussed against the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
