A makeup-free Gaga took the stage for the stripped-back performance.

After dazzling on the red carpet in Versace, she removed her smokey-eye and red lip, and traded in her gown for a black T-shirt, ripped jeans and sneakers. "It's deeply personal for me," she said, before she began her performance."I think that we all need each other. We need a lot of love to walk through this life. We all need a hero sometimes — there's heroes all around us in unassuming places. But, you might find that you could be your own hero even if you feel broken inside."
