DeBoer touched on several topics throughout the interview, including his childhood in South Dakota, and his experience leading Washington to the national championship game last season, and how falling short in that game helped him find common ground with his Alabama players.When DeBoer takes the sideline at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Aug. 31, it will be his first time on the Crimson Tide’s side. However, it won’t be his first time coaching in the stadium.
In 2017, DeBoer visited Tuscaloosa as Fresno State’s offensive coordinator. The No. 1 Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs 41-10 that day.“We knew that Alabama was coming off a playoff appearance in 2016, that this was gonna be a really tough game,” DeBoer said. “But we actually played really well, I thought. But it just being an environment that was just off the charts from the time you’re pulling into the stadium.
