Residents from a village in Centane, in the Eastern Cape, say the deaths of two pupils have reopened old wounds.

It is believed that they were part of a group of children who were swept away by the heavy rains while walking home from school in Centane. People from the Cebe village say they are reminded of the empty promises made by then Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula who once visited residents promising to fix ailing road infrastructure.
