The Florida native dreamed of one day playing in Europe. After seven years in Columbus , Morris is getting his call-up. Morris left for England Tuesday to start his new journey with Middlesbrough FC in England 's second-tier EFL Championship league.
"I'm always looking to grow, to challenge myself, and to step out of my comfort zone," said Morris. "I've always strived to do that, and this encapsulated that for me." Morris made his professional debut with the club in 2020 and became the youngest player to ever start in an MLS Cup Final. He also was a key playmaker in the club's historic run to the final in the CONCACAF Champions Cup this season. The 22-year-old homegrown player leaves Columbus with a "Black and Gold" heart and filled with gratitude.
"This city is my home; it's a big part of me, it's a big part of my heart," said Morris. "A big seven years of my life was me growing and figuring out who I am as a person. I hold it very dearly ."
