High school students will start at 8:35 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:25 p.m. instead of 3:30 p.m.Washington Township students could see longer bus rides next school year Elementary school buses will now unload students 20 minutes before the start of the day, high school buses 15 minutes before and middle school buses 10 minutes before. This will give drivers a full hour in between school start times.
The school board did not have to vote to approve the changes under the terms of a resolution passed in March 2022 that allowed the district to change around school start times to the current order of elementary, high and then middle schools.Washington Township’s Transportation director Maria Palacios told board members that the hour in between the tiers is “non-negotiable” to get students to school and home on time based on the current number of drivers the district has.
