Detectives used license plate reader technology to track a Washington State man home after a shooting in San Jose on Super Bowl Sunday injured six. He has since been arrested for attempted murder.
Monday, March 16, 2026 6:19PMA suspect has been arrested for attempted murder in connection to a shooting on Super Bowl Sunday in San Jose. With the help of license plate reader technology, San Jose police were able to identify the suspect's vehicle used to flee the area after the shooting, track him to his home, and take him into custody.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, along with a search warrant for the home, and later identified the shooter as a Washington State resident who was visiting the city of San Jose for the Super Bowl.The preliminary investigation revealed an altercation occurred between two groups outside of a business.Four victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment, one victim self-transported to a local hospital, and one victim was treated on scene.The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. On March 11, 2026, the suspect was booked into King County Jail, where he is awaiting an extradition hearing and expected to be extradited back to Santa Clara County. Detectives located the firearm used to commit the crime at the suspect's home when they executed the search warrant.
