The seventh-place team from the Pac-12 takes on the Mountain West champion Bulldogs on Saturday at SoFi Stadium
The bright lights of SoFi Stadium will host one of the earliest games on the college football bowl slate Saturday, with Washington State taking on Fresno State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl.
The game, also broadcast on ABC, is “probably one of the bigger stages for a pre-Christmas bowl,” said Washington State Athletic Director Patrick Chun. Chun added that the Pac-12’s bowl record – with seven teams in action – will take on a larger meaning this year. Head coach Jake Dickert, finishing up his first full season as head coach, will also assume the role of defensive coordinator after Brian Ward departed for the same role at Arizona State.
Ward said he’s ready for the challenge, flanked by senior running back Robert Ferrel and junior receiver Lincoln Victor. Fresno State wide receiver Nikko Remigio, a Mater Dei High School product, said he is excited to play in front of family and friends. He added that making the bowl game out of the Mountain West meant winning the conference “and bringing the championship back to Fresno.”The Bulldogs, behind sixth-year quarterback Jake Haener, engineered the best single-season turnaround in program history.
