Washington County was the first school district in the state to go back to school — they are also early to embrace the newly-passed Guardian Bill .

“Our first phase is to identify the guardians in each of our buildings. Once that is accomplished, we’ll go to phase two which is the mental health evaluations for all those guardians. Phase three will be the training,” said Dunham.“We already have the guardians who work in our building and are volunteering right now, going through the trainings and preparing for when this will officially be rolled out next year,” said Dunham.

“The state just recently put out its curriculum, so there will be consistency state-wide,” said Brooksby. “You wonder, am I going to send them off today and not see them at the end of the day,” said DeLeeuw. “We have a child with anxiety, so we do talk about it.
