A former Yakima police officer who is suspected of killing his ex-wife and girlfriend was found along I-5 in Eugene, Oregon, Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities in Oregon are seen along southbound I-5 near Eugene after a pursuit involving a former Yakima police officer suspected of kidnapping his 1-year-old child from West Richland, Washington on Monday. Police said the man is also believed to be involved in two homicides. was found along I-5 in Eugene, Oregon , Tuesday afternoon after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Police said Huizar had kidnapped his 1-year-old son and was allegedly attempting to flee to Mexico. On Monday evening, Washington State Patrol issued an Amber Alert on behalf of the WRPD for both Elias and the 1-year-old. Elias was identified as a person of interest Monday after a 31-year-old woman, who was later identified by the Benton County Coroner's Office as Amber Rodriguez, was found shot dead outside Wiley Elementary School.
The WRPD initially believed the first shooting was an "isolated incident" before ultimately discovering the second crime scene.According to the Richland School District, Rodriguez was a para-educator at William Willey Elementary School.
