With their season on the line against the Trail Blazers, the Warriors didn't leave anything to chance.
Steph Chambers/Getty ImagesPortland, trotting out a nearly unrecognizable lineup of projects, busts and fringe players, surrendered an NBA-record 55 points in the first quarter. Golden State's double-nickel is the highest first quarter total in NBA history. They fell just three points shy of the overall NBA record for a quarter.
The previous first-quarter record of 51 points was shared by the Hornets, who set the mark in January, and the 2019 Warriors. The Dubs need to win on Easter Sunday to avoid the play-in, and it appears they're well on their way, with an 84-53 lead at halftime. The only downside is that if they win and the Clippers lose to the Suns, their first-round opponent will be the Suns instead of the Kings.
