Despite losing two key pieces to this summer’s title run, the Warriors look to be deeper than they were a year ago.
SAN FRANCISCO — Coach Steve Kerr’s ability to tinker with lineup combinations this preseason has been limited due to Klay Thompson’s absence.
Iguodala won’t be integrated into the Warriors’ rotation plans until later as they continue to work on mapping out the 38-year-old’s workload in order to not overextend him too early in the season as they might have last year. His early season absence, though, shouldn’t be a problem, especially with DiVincenzo serving as another off-the-bench playmaker option alongside Poole.
With defensive ace Gary Payton II and reliable shooter Otto Porter Jr. out of the picture, Golden State brought in Donte DiVincenzo and JaMychal Green, two players who have the potential to be the next Warriors free agents to re-establish their careers here. DiVincenzo finished with 10 assists, seven rebounds and three steals. And Green showed off his improved 3-point shooting. After going a career-low 26.6% from deep last season, Green has made 40% of his 3-pointers in the preseason, going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc in Tuesday’s win.“Everything is very similar and familiar to me for my time in Milwaukee,” said DiVincenzo, who struggled part of last season as he worked his way back from an injury.
