, a protected first-round pick in 2030 and a second-round pick in 2027 to the Washington Wizards in exchange for veteran guard Chris Paul, league sources confirmed to The Chronicle on Thursday.
The proposed trade came about just hours before the 2023 NBA Draft in which the Warriors own the No. 19 pick. Golden State is also sending 2022 second-round pick to Washington as part of the deal, which clears up an extra roster spot for the team entering the 2023-24 season.Paul was acquired by the Wizards as part of the Suns’ Bradley Beal trade on Sunday that was finalized Thursday as well. Washington, a team clearly entering a rebuild after parting ways with Beal, had spent the past few days trying to reroute Paul to another team. The 38-year-old will earn $30.8 million this season and has a non-guaranteed deal for $30 million for the 2024-25 season.
