Warrensville Heights mayor was charged with theft and tampering with records on Tuesday.
WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS , Ohio - The Warrensville Heights Mayor Bradley Sellers has been charged with petty theft and tampering with records. 19 News first broke the story Tuesday night.
“I was surprised,” said WarrensvilleHeights City Councilman Matt Howard. “I was really starting to wonder, me and some of the other council members were really starting to wonder what’s going on here after we haven’t heard anything.” In a shocking turn of events, councilman Howard says Mayor Sellers fired Law Director Teresa Metcalf Beasley Monday, one day before the news of the criminal charges broke.
“He did serve as economic development director for a number of years before being mayor so he should be familiar with what’s going on, you would think so but the law department should also be advising as well,” Howard said. Sellers did pay the taxes he owed before announcing he was running for Cuyahoga County Executive in January 2022. He withdrew from the race 10 days later after media reports came out about the tax issue.
