Chlorophyll water has been claimed to cure acne and promote youthful skin
A warning has been issued over a TikTok skincare hack that can cause people to suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea. The use of chlorophyll water is the latest skincare trend popping up on TikTok, which can supposedly it cure acne, eliminate body odour, improve energy levels, clean blood and aid in weight loss.
While chlorophyll is a natural compound, chlorophyll water is man-made. Wellness expert Ryan Davidson of cleanse company Raw Juicery, has lifted the lid on whether chlorophyll water is a 'miracle cure' or just another wellness scam. There are numerous claims of what chlorophyll water can do. But not all of them are backed by science.
Some TikTok hacks can be dangerous, and while there are no recognised upper toxicity limits when drinking chlorophyll water you should still be cautious of potential side effects. "Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain are all known side effects of chlorophyll water," the wellness expert warns.
"Drinking chlorophyll water won't replace a healthy diet either," he adds. "For most people, taking liquid chlorophyll may be a quick and easy way of increasing the intake of healthy greens, just don't expect miracles.
