Today's Alaska weather forecast from Alaska's Weather Source.

ANCHORAGE , AK - Summer is here as sunshine paired with 70-degree highs takes over statewide. While most of Alaska will hold onto these conditions through the work week, wet weather returns to the Southeast.

For the Panhandle, increased cloud has already begun. While areas from Juneau northward will see mostly cloudy skies by the afternoon, Ketchikan and Petersburg have already said goodbye to the sunny days. While showers arrive overnight for the Southeast, and sooner in Ketchikan, today will still be warm. Highs will climb from the mid-60s to near 80 degrees in Skagway, after recording a new record high temperature on Wednesday of 80 degrees, previously 73 degrees set back in 1990.

Wet weather will encompass the region all the way into the weekend so keep those XTRATUFs nearby. Across Southcentral, the Interior and Western Alaska, high temperatures are building from the mid-60s into the 70s. Sunshine remains for each region through the work week, with increased cloud cover by Saturday and Sunday. The Kenai Peninsula will face the warmest temperatures on the western side of the Kenai Range, as low to mid-60-degree highs overtake Seward and Whittier.

Today through Friday are great days to hike, so don’t forget your water or sunscreen. Along the Aleutian Chain, temperatures are following the warming trend with highs in the 50s and lows near 40 degrees. Mostly sunny to partly sunny skies will take over the region through the week. For the North Slope, mostly cloudy skies await with high temperatures in the 30s, and even as warm as near 40 degrees in Deadhorse.

A chance of a rain/snow mix will sweep across the region with higher chances along the Brooks Range, including in Anaktuvuk Pass. Hail has been reported in Atqasuk this morning, but mostly cloudy skies will take over for the afternoon.24/7 Alaska Weather: Get access to live radar, satellite, weather cameras, current conditions, and the latest weather forecast here.
