KOTA KINABALU: The government should provide free water supply to people affected by water shortages in the state, says Parti Warisan vice president Datuk Junz Wong.
He said the state government should send clean water to the public for free until they resolve the problems.
"At the same time, people have to buy and pay for water tanks to get clean water from the private sector. Why do people need to buy water from the private sector," he said in a statement on Saturday . Wong added that the Universiti Malaysia Sabah campus was among many campuses and schools, factories, businesses and households facing severe water shortage problems lately.Wong said the government should allocate a budget to supply additional water tanks to the people to prepare for the dry spell coupled with a high heat wave that was expected to last until August or September 2023.
