Beaver fur saw strong sales numbers at increased prices in June, but lower coyote fur prices was where Saskatchewan may have felt the greatest impact, according to Downey. “Those those two countries are huge takers of wild fur, for the most part all the luxury end stuff,” Downey said. Part of the utility of trapping is keeping the population of fur bearing animals at a “reasonable number,” he said. Otherwise “Mother Nature will take over.”
