The director will give a masterclass and has also been invited to compile the festival’s annual Top 10, which will consist of 10 contemporary films by Chinese filmmakers. The selection will be announced at later date.
The Greenaway Lifetime Achievement tribute will screen six films from his vast filmography, showing how his approach transcends genres through fiction works made with a documentary eye and vice-versa. IDFA also revealed that it is putting together a special program paying homage to 16mm film, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
Other programs will include, Fabrications, investigating the difference between reality and realism, and another focus on how filmmakers and documentary makers inspire and influence one another.
