PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has been nominated for the post of Dewan Negara president.

"In this regard, it will give me the opportunity to continue with my previous work of bringing reforms to Parliament which I had intended to do," he said when contacted on Friday .He added that he is looking to get support from the government and parliamentarians to reform the august House in his tenure as Senate president.

Wan Junaidi, who was previously the minister in charge of Parliament and law, is tipped to replace Tan Sri Rais Yatim whose tenure ended on Thursday . Wan Junaidi had also held several key Cabinet posts under previous administrations including Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker from 2008 until 2013.Wan Junaidi subsequently won the Santubong parliamentary seat in the 2008 general election and was its MP until 2022.to our Premium Plan for an ad-free and unlimited reading experience!
