Walmart store hours are expanding

stores will be open nationwide for longer hours. They will open at 6 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. Most stores had been open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is a welcome change for customers whose work day does not allow for earlier shopping. Some Walmart stores closed as early as 6 p.m.

Maria Halkias, of the Dallas News reports that some malls like NorthPark Center are also extending their hours from the short day of the pandemic to 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Halkias points out that Galleria Dallas will have the same opening hours and I suspect that other malls will quickly fall in line and also open at these hours. At this time, in the Dallas area Stonebriar Centre and Grapevine Mills remain open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Most stores cut back during the peak period of pandemic caused by Covid-19 to comply with local regulations and to give retail employees time to complete new cleaning procedures. It is a welcome sign that stores are staying open for longer period, since it truly signals the end of the pandemic. Dacona Smith, Walmart’s U.S. chief operating officer, is quoted as saying: “As Covid-19 cases leveled out, we are expanded out closing time late last year and now, with the number of fully vaccinated Americans growing higher every day, we believe we can adjust hours once again.”

Walmart is showing leadership in helping consumers regain confidence to shop in their stores. There is quite a difference between shopping in stores and ordering on-line. Basically, on-line purchases of staples are easy, but to asses’ fashions, and make that extra purchase needs an in-person visit to stores.
