Walmart is testing new body cameras at a Denton store. The pilot program is part of a safety initiative and not a response to growing shoplifting rates, according to Walmart . We're always looking at new and innovative security technology used across the retail industry. This is a pilot we are testing in one market, and we will evaluate the results before making any longer-term decisions. In Denton, employees with body cameras are stationed at the exits to review receipts.

Signage notifying guests about the use of body cameras will be posted. Walmart isn’t the only store to test body cameras in recent times, however. TJX, the parent company of T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and Sierra, started testing body cameras in some of its stores in 2022
